La terminolog\u00eda para los suelos tropicales es confusa y existen muchos esquemas de clasificaci\u00f3n, basados en criterios pedol\u00f3gicos, geoqu\u00edmicos o de ingenier\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Para que los esquemas de clasificaci\u00f3n sean \u00fatiles, es necesario que incluyan los efectos de la desintegraci\u00f3n debida a la meteorizaci\u00f3n, la mineralog\u00eda (especialmente los minerales de arcilla \u00abinusuales\u00bb que son propios de los suelos tropicales), la cementaci\u00f3n y la estructura.<\/p>\n<p>Los suelos residuales tropicales son materiales altamente estructurados, tanto a nivel macro como microsc\u00f3pico.<\/p>\n<p>La microestructura se produce por la lixiviaci\u00f3n de minerales durante la meteorizaci\u00f3n, lo que deja una estructura abierta.<\/p>\n<p>Los suelos tropicales tambi\u00e9n suelen ser suelos cementados debido a la deposici\u00f3n de minerales, ya sea durante o despu\u00e9s de la meteorizaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>La naturaleza altamente estructurada de los suelos tropicales, combinada con el hecho de que a menudo existen en un estado no saturado, los hace dif\u00edciles de trabajar con los principios generalmente aceptados de la mec\u00e1nica de suelos saturados y sedimentarios.<\/p>\n<p>Los suelos tropicales pueden ser dif\u00edciles de tratar como materiales de ingenier\u00eda.
